Hashback Hashish Set For 5 City Tour Around China

22 May 2014

Ashish Sachan aka Hashback Hashish has taken a very noticeable step back from gigging over the last 6 months which has also resulted in a welcomed surge of creativity. ‘Stoned’ marked a definite shift in Hashback’s direction and style as a producer, featuring tracks that are much more restrained and melodic, often tarred with a trace of melancholy. Check out ‘Somewhere’ below to see what we mean:

The 5 city tour around China from 31 May to 8 June is following in the footsteps of Teddy Boy Kill who went in November last year with REProduce founder Rana Ghose. We know there’s a whole lot of juicy footage from those travels but sadly, it’s unlikely that it'll see the light of day anytime soon.

Here’s what Rana had to say about the last tour: "When Teddy Boy Kill and myself went to tour China in November 2013, we were all blown away by the sheer volume and scale of the music scene there. Here in India, we don't really have a clue about what’s going over there; I don’t think the most of the world really does either. We met many amazing like minded people, and are now working towards a longer term series of collaborations. Sinotronics places curation as a top priority in terms of a musical experience, and we mesh really well. So, consider these five dates for Hashback as another iteration in a movement towards more regular programming exchanges between the two countries."

The tour is a collaboration between REProduce and Chinese curators Sinotronics (founded by Josh Feola and Markus M Schneider) who are also excited about the prospect of more Indian and Chinese collaborations and exchanges. "We are both — in India and China — operating at sub-cultural grounds, what you might call the musical underground. We hope to open a door for musical encounters of all kinds between both countries, capable of opening a new dimen- sion of access and creative accidents," Markus M Schneider.

This is an exciting network that has been created and if everything goes according to plan the dialogue between alternative music scenes in China and India will start to really open up and flourish over the next year. For now, we’re excited that Hashback Hashish will be flying the flag – check out the full tour details below:
