Conference Launches This Week: Putting The Creative Sector Behind The Decks

31 March 2014

This Thursday (3rd April), Wild City launches a new weekly event taking place every Thursday at 9A in Hauz Khas Village.

Delhi boasts a vibrant and rich creative sector, with more and more interesting businesses and projects popping up all over the place. The Coalition organised by Do One Thing and OML really brought this to light - we are part of an incredibly interesting community and should all be making the most of this very nascent phase that we are in.

What we realised is that we shouldn’t be waiting for formal occasions to instigate these networks and opportunities to meet and mingle, we should think of organic and natural ways for the many different scenes in the city to mix and come together.

The concept for Conference was inspired by similar nights that we used to attend in London and Reji’s popular Mixtape in Bombay but more than that, it is born out of a curiosity to place people we know from a variety of creative backgrounds, behind the decks and listen to the sounds that they like.

By selecting individuals from a range of creative disciplines we’re hoping to create a weekly event where people come to show support for their peers and see what happens after a glass of wine/beer or 2. We also want it to become an informal way to bring a variety of different groups from the Delhi scene together.

We’re talking artists, designers, writers, creative agencies, cooks, journalists, musicians, promoters.

Our first edition is especially special, we have Motherland editor (also responsible for the fantastic Sing For Your Supper blog which has possibly one of the best taglines under the sun), Vandana Verma, behind the decks - going back-to-back with Wild City founder Sarah Chawla. Moniker will open for the 2 selectors who will proceed to spin for the rest of the night.

Oh and it's 1+1 on beers all night long. Peep the flyer below.
