BLOT! & Lifafa Collaborate For Live Scoring Of “A Throw Of Dice”

21 March 2014

This Saturday (22 March) at the Science City Mini Auditorium in Kolkata, BLOT! and Lifafa (2 of our favourite Indian acts) will come together to present a live scoring of the classic “A Throw Of Dice”. The silent film will be interpreted using elements of analogue electronica, treated vocals and lush soundscapes.

The black and white feature was made in 1929 by German born director Franz Osten and is based on an episode from The Mahabharata. It was digitally restored in 2006 in honour of the 60th anniversary of Indian independence.

Watching films with live scores takes your experience to another level, anyone in Kolkata this weekend should definitely go and check this out. For those of you not in Kolkata, you can watch the film in full below which was scored by Nitin Sawhney and the London Symphony Orchestra.

This performance is part of the Excellence on Tour organised by DWIH New Delhi Consortium, entry is on a first come first served basis.
