Peace One Day Festival Announced. Win Tickets

19 November 2013

It was in the late 90's that Jeremy Gilley an actor turned filmmaker became preoccupied with the issue of peace, kick-starting a campaign to establish an annual day of ceasefire and non-violence.

In 1999, as part of this ongoing campaign he founded Peace One Day, a non-profit organisation. And in 2001 Peace One Day’s efforts were rewarded when the member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on 21 September – Peace Day.

Inspired by a 70% recorded reduction in violent incidents on Peace Day in Afghanistan (which even included an official ceasefire from the Taliban) Jeremy launched the Global Truce campaign that involved the creation of a series of Peace One Day coalitions, establishing an international network of supporters.

To celebrate Peace One Day (be it 2 months late) Delhi event moguls Eventwala and MIMS have joined forces to deliver a day of music and art, showcasing some of India's oldest and newest talent all within the walls of MG Road's Zorba. With a line up that includes Midival Punditz (Live), Parikrama (Live), Soul'd Out, FuzzCulture, Bass Pilots and more – it could be a good way to spend your Saturday. It is the season after all.

To make your decision even easier, we’re giving away a pair of tickets alongside Eventwala. This means completely free entry for you and a friend (usually Rs 1000 per head).

Simply email your name and contact number through to info@thewildcity.com with Peace Day written in the subject line. We'll be choosing winners at random on 22 November 2013.

Good luck!

More info on Peace One Day’s efforts can be seen in the video made by Jeremy Gilley below:
