Buraka Som Sistema To Play New Delhi This Halloween

22 October 2012

Buraka Som Sistema is a Portuguese dance music collective that has mastered the craft of fusing electronic production sensibilities with African kuduro. They are generally credited with creating the "progressive kuduro" variant and have been a driving force within the evolution of kuduro to the world.

Their latest release, titled ‘Kombo’, saw them collaborate with the likes of Sara Tavares, Roses Gabor, Terry Lynn, Afrikan Boy and Blaya. An exploration of the borders between old and new it combined Buraka's fierce approach with the uptempo, energetic, and danceable Angolan genre. Live, they will simply bully a crowd into dancing wildly to their African-inspired rhythms, using every inch of the stage, re-creating the closest thing you'll find to a carnival in club.

The result is a merger between the two universes in which Buraka shines – major festivals and electronic clubs. It’s totally vital stuff, and merely calling it entertaining won't do it justice.

Due to perform at NH7 Weekender, Pune, they'll be stopping over at Delhi, on the night of Halloween (October 31), playing an eerie, rowdy and sweaty show at blueFROG Delhi. Don't miss out. This is pure unadulterated mid-week madness.
