Arjun Vagale: Re: Focus

16 October 2012

Arjun Vagale, has recently announced a new show and sound titled Re:Focus (Reference:Focus).

Aiming to launch the show at the Pune edition of Bacardi NH7 Weekender, it aims to bring attention and focus back to music. "In recent times, I’ve felt that the music at large shows often takes a back seat, with too much emphasis given to an artist’s ‘performance’ rather than the actual music he or she is playing. It’s more about the name, and the music is often way too mainstream" Arjun told us. "The music for this concept has been specifically produced with the show in mind, and it’s all 100% original. I’ve spent the last 6 months developing the sound for this, and it’s deep, dark and twisted. I’m keeping it as live as possible, so there will be a lot of space to experiment."

The Re: Focus show will have a strong visual presence designed by fellow Jalebee Cartel band member G- Force. Providing a visual representation of the music, it aims to highlight the audio rather than overtake it. "We gave a lot of thought to the best way to do these visuals. It’s stripped down, super minimal, yet bold at the same time. G-Force will also be doing the visuals live, rather than having them synced. This also gives him room to experiment"

"Our philosophy is simple: less is more."

"The biggest inspiration for this is that we don't have anything like it in India. I spent the summer in Europe and heard some amazing music there. Unfortunately, bringing those artists to the main stage in India seems to be years away. With all the new music I've been making, I thought it would be interesting to present this sound in a new and unique way. The show has a very distinct vibe about it and the audio, video and lights complement each other perfectly. Hopefully people will understand and appreciate what we’re trying to do."
