Watch & Support: Bassist From Scribe’s Award Winning Film

20 August 2012

Following the success of his debut arthouse film ‘The Untitled Kartik Krishnana Project’, bassist from Scribe, Srinivas Sunderrajan, is gearing up for the release of his second film ‘Greater Elephant’.

'Greater Elephant' follows the humorous journey of mahout’s search for his lost elephant all told through a selection of characters, all entangled in a hopeless mess. The film has already won the Jury Award for Best Film at the South Asian International Film Festival 2011 in New York and is shortly due for release at the end of this month at film festivals in Copenhagen and San Francisco.

The colourful comedy is using a unique way to source funds to release the film independently with Sunderrajan approaching distributors and cinemas directly. The Scribe bassist is raising funds via crowd-funding, a concept where fans can donate as little as Rs 500 or as much as Rs 150,000 to earn an acknowledgement on the film’s official website or even a credit as a co-producer in the opening title of the film.

The audience has already reached almost half way to its target of 6 lakhs: “The response so far has been great. Within a few days of the launch, we've managed to raise almost half the target. Though the pace has receded, the support is still coming in and I’m confident by the end of our time-limit, we would have raised our target amount!” says director Srinivas Sunderrajan.
