Listen: ‘Dawn’ By Jwala

The moment you hit play on ‘Dawn’, the latest monthly compilation from collective Jwala, you sense a melancholic sense of brooding.

National Animal’s kicks it off with ‘Fountains of Love’ before Dolorblind’s ‘1200’ comes in. With its snappy hi-hats, pulsating bass and rapid-fire snares Rohan Sinha manages to land one of the best trap beats to come out of India; it’s easily the standout track on the compilation. Rapper 1200 spits smooth bars before spitting the hook in a heavy, guttural growl near the end.

Mushi Mushi’s ‘Kalki’, ‘Perpetual’ by Stomp and the rest of the compilation continue what Jwala have become great at: giving previously unheard-of producers a platform to showcase their talent.

Despite how stark of a contrast it is to their previous compilations, by the end of ‘Dawn’, listeners can be drained. The amount of pure noise coupled with heavy production back to back is drowning not giving much space for each track to breathe.

Listen below to ‘Dawn’ and follow Jwala on Facebook and Soundcloud for more of their work.
