SnowShoe: Top 5 Electronica Albums

18 September 2012

Unless you've ignored us banging on about these guys over the last couple of weeks, you'll already know about SnowShoe. The studio project of Sky Rabbit’s lead guitarist, Rahul Nadkarni and drummer Harsh Karangale is built from thoughts and ideas put down over the years. A culmination of their experience, shared passion and musical evolution through 6 years of recording and touring with their indie/post punk quartet.

"I think it started when I began programming music and recording things at home. You invariably put down skeletons and frameworks for songs because you have so many sounds to play with. It's a never ending process really, but at some point last year, I picked out a few songs that I wanted to work on and eventually take live." - Rahul Nadkarni

The duo's production bridges ambient and lo-fi recordings with contemporary programmed sounds with embarrassing ease. A combination that would see them sit next to Boards Of Canada, Four Tet and Young Montana? on my shelf.

In preparation for their debut performance this Friday (21 Sept) at New Delhi's TLR, head honcho Rahul Nadkarni has kindly put together a little list of his top 5 electronic albums. Take a look below:

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM - SOUND OF SILVER
"
One of my favourite dance music CD's ever."

SQUAREPUSHER - UFABULUM
"Squarepusher raises the bar again with this album."

PREFUSE 73 - ONE WORD EXTINGUISHER
"I love mash ups of styles like this. Prefuse sits right on top of the pile."

BOARDS OF CANADA - CAMPFIRE HEADPHASE
"BOC at their most serene."

TORO Y MOI - UNDERNEATH THE PINE
"Another dance music favourite; I love the dated, vintage sounds on this CD".
