Details Announced For ‘Women In Contemporary Indian Art’ Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

The reach of Wikipedia is ubiquitous throughout the world. It’s an everyday staple permeating most of society - what most people aren’t aware of, though is that, according to a study conducted in 2011, only 9% of the editors at Wikipedia are women and the percentage for India is even lower, just 3%.

Along with Khoj International Artists Association, Feminism in India are throwing a Wikipedia Edita-a-thon focussing on ‘Women in Contemporary Indian Art’.

Attendees will be creating and editing entries about female Indian artists who either have no representation on Wikipedia or very little information is available on them. The articles will be created/edited in English and any other language participants are comfortable in.

The event will be inclusive, diverse and educational with the first hour dedicated to an introduction and brief on how to create and edit articles on Wikipedia. Taking place on 16 September 2017 from 10am to 6pm, Khoj Studios in New Delhi will be hosting it.

You can RSVP to attend the event here and find out more about Khoj International Artists Association here and Feminism in India here.
