Details Announced For Indian Summer Baaja

Indian Summer Baaja is a one-day music festival which will see legendary Indian maestro Soumik Datta put together a line-up of UK-based musicians, storytellers and dancers. Part of the Horniman Museum’s Indian Summer season on 23 July, Datta will bring together UK-based musicians, storytellers and dancers whose contemporary practice is deep-rooted in the musical traditions of South Asia.

A series of incredible events and exhibitions from 9 July to 3 September, 2017 the Horniman Museum and Garden’s Indian Summer celebrates 70 years of India and UK cultural ties.

“I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of vibrant Indian festivals complete with nomad bands and folk musicians playing on street corners and city gardens” - Soumik.

The event on 23 July is free to attend and, amongst others, will feature a performance from Sarod virtuoso Soumik Datta himself. For more information about the event, you can go here. To stay up-to-date on Soumik's performances, follow him on Facebook.
