The brains behind online platform Music Is My Sanctuary as well as the 24 Hours of Vinyl series, Alexis Charpentier aka DJ Lexis knows a few things about vinyl culture.

At a recent TEDx event in Montreal, Alexis spoke in detail about the cultural significance of the community of crate diggers, DJs and producers who are “music archeologists.”

Record collectors have always played a pivotal role in preserving musical heritage and culture; for most, they did this through digging for obscure music created by artists who are seemingly overlooked.

In the video below, Alexis speaks on the heritage that these “archeologists” have built and what the future holds for vinyl culture.
