Gig Preview: Sulk Station, _RHL and Sundogproject

23 July 2014

Since its launch in May, The Summer House Café in Aurobindo Market has become a hub for music lovers and party goers in Delhi. The last two months have seen the venue packed with some talented musicians performing for the crowds and this Friday, the team here at VITAL are bringing something extra special to the table.

The electric lineup includes Bangalore based duo Sulk Station, producer Rahul Giri’s project _RHL and a solo performance by Sundogproject’s frontman Rahul Das – a treat for alternative music enthusiasts in Delhi.

Since their acclaimed debut LP ‘Till You Appear’ dropped in 2012, Sulk Station have been making waves in the industry with their atmospheric, moody and innovative sounds. Rahul Giri’s minimalist production creates the perfect template for Tanvi Rao’s hypnotic vocals, ultimately producing very emotive, contemplative sounds that play with conventional electronic and ambient structures. And they’re even better live.

Rahul Giri also keeps busy with his solo outfit _RHL that has been an incendiary in the alternative electronic scene in Bangalore. He’s been picked as the #1 Indian to watch out for in 2013 and his hugely awaited debut EP is schduled to release this year. Rahul works with a number of genres from downtempo, house and techno to trip-hop, funk and drum and bass – there’s a lot to look forward to with his live performances.

We’ve kept up with Sundogproject since their fantastic alternative rock/post-metal album – Hex1/Visions released last year. Sundog’s founder, vocalist, guitarist and main composer Rahul Das will be flying solo on Friday and introducing audiences to brand new material. Their new LP titled TORA makes a shift from the dark, grungy feel of its predecessor to electronic inspired atmospheric tracks with the bands typically industrial overtones – it’s slated to release in the coming month and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.

Apart from the colossal lineup, the entry, as always, is free. You can have a look at the facebook event for any additional details.

We’ll see you there.
