The Polish Institute New Delhi and Reggae Rajahs are delighted to present the Polish Institute 1 Year Anniversary celebrations in Bangalore and New Delhi. The event will feature the some of the finest reggae, soul and funk artists from Poland including Marika, Dancehall Masak-Raf, Junior Stress and Ras Tooh alongside Indian heavyweight reggae entertainers the Reggae Rajahs.
Marika is a Polish singer, songwriter, composer. Her style is a mixture of reggae, funk and soul music. Hailed as the First Lady of Polish dancehall she is best known for energetic shows, strong voice and conscious lyrics. She started her career in 2002 with the soundsystem Bass Medium Trinity, and released a very well-received album 'You say, and you have' in 2004 which became a pioneering and historical album in Poland. Marika has played hundreds of shows in clubs throughout the country and abroad (USA, Canada, France, UK, Ireland, Germany, China). She supported artists such as Sean Paul, Missy Elliott, Macy Gray, Gentleman, NAS, Damian Marley, Julian Marley and Inner Circle.
Dancehall Masak-Rah & Junior Stress
Dancehall Masak-Rah was formed in 2008 by veteran dancehall/reggae selector 27Pablo and one of the leading DJs/singers - Junior Stress Son of King Stress, established selector for the legendary Polish Love Sensi Music sound. They started a small weekly dance in Warsaw which soon grew to be the most popular weekly event in Poland. The crew became the premiere dancehall sound in Poland playing at numerous festivals and events bringing dynamic entertainment and introducing the finest Jamaican music to Polish public.
Ras Tooh is the vocalist of two well known Polish bands Paprika Korps and Duberman. Owner of the label and booking agency Karrot Kommando.
Reggae Rajahs (Diggy Dang, DJ MoCity and Mr. Herbalist aka General Zooz) are India's first reggae sound system. Known for their energetic live performances, they are reggae entertainers and promoters based out of New Delhi. Formed in 2009, Reggae Rajahs have dedicated themselves to spreading the sounds of reggae music across India. They frequently perform at clubs and live venues all over the country and have also performed at many festivals including Sunburn Festival (Goa), SulaFest (Nashik) and Ragasthan (Jaisalmer). They host their own stage at the NH7 Weekender Festival called the ‘Dubstation’ which has introduced thousands of people to dub based sounds over the last two years.
