Lady Leshurr, Prabh Deep & DJ Uri

16 November 2017
Summer House Cafe

Lady Leshurr is one of the UK’s most exciting rappers, known for her ingenious freestyling that combines mischief, wit and expert comic timing. The sometimes-singer and producer is best known for her ‘Queen’s Speech’ freestyle series on YouTube and was one of the first UK female artists to permeate the country’s bubble. The rapper has since gained fans in Erkyah Badu, Timbaland and Busta Rhymes - who complimented her skills when she rapped like the legendary artist on her cover of ‘Look At Me Now’.

Prabh Deep
Gifted with a unique voice that contains traces of traditional Punjabi folk singers, Prabh Deep is widely acknowledged as one of the best underground MCs in the country. Besides being a recording artist, Prabh also pushes for and organizes MC Battles in the city. Born and brought up in Tilak Nagar, Prabh's music paints a vivid picture of growing up in a locality that's reeling from high unemployment rates and the recent influx of drugs in the community.
In order to promote Hip Hop and increase its awareness he started an initiative called “introduce yourself” which is a platform aimed at artists to come together and showcase their own element that they practice, elements being breaking, DJing, emceeing and beatboxing.

DJ Uri
With a career spanning over 3 decades, DJ Uri has been true to the hip-hop movement. Born in East London in 1974, his journey has been in full flow since 1982. Influenced by the “Street Sounds Compilations” and the break dance era, Uri has had a solid upbringing being exposed to underground music from an early age.

Getting his first turntables aged 13 he began to DJ for hip-hop crew “The Uptown Posse”. By the age of 15 Uri was performing to large crowds across the UK playing hip-hop, disco, funk and soul. The depth of his collection and knowledge he has gained over the years are a credit to hip-hop culture. He lives and breathes the real essence of the old skool DJ and his pledge to only play on vinyl decks stays loyal to the art of turntablism.
