Loefah was one of the pioneering founders of dubstep releasing on one of the labels involved in the genre's genesis DMZ. Loefah started off collaborating with the Digital Mystikz on the DMZ nights run in Brixton and was part of Mary Anne Hobbs' Dubstep Warz radio show that contributed to breaking the genre to the mainstream. He was known for having a dark and minimal style that used powerful basslines and menacing vocal samples in order to create a sense of dread.
In around 2007, after falling out of love with the genre, he moved onto UK Bass music and founded the record label Swamp 81 that has released bass music releases such as Addison Groove's Footcrab. His label holds a regular show on Rinse FM.
Tarqeeb (Translation: Plan) is Ashish Jose. A seeker of hedonism through rhythm, philanthropy through music-making, he formed his moniker in the summer of 2012. The idea was always simple--promotion of quality EDM, minus the little labels and the big boxes. The only constants remain deep, groovy bass-lines, dark atmospheres and a trajectory that ultimately crescendos into high energy dance music. Coming from a Metal (bassist) and Psychedelic trance background, his sets innately include a generous dose of live sampling, layering and an overall vibe that could be defined as 'eclectic.'
His influences run deep. Think older heavyweights like Photek, LTJ Bukem, Ed Rush, BSE, Concord Dawn as well as producers like Alix Perez, Rockwell, Mefjus, Foreign Concept as a representation of the newer breed of the same. Still in its nascent stage, Tarqeeb has already given people a reason to move on dance floors around Asia. From Heavy Hongkong to NH7 Weekender Pune to Bass Camp Festival Delhi and Indian Surf Festival Orissa he's enjoyed playing alongside headliners like London Elektricity, Dub Phizix, Koan Sound, JAZZSteppa, Nanci & Phoebe as well as his peers from India's own burgeoning music scene such as BBC, Ox7gen, Sandunes, Reggae Rajahs, Vice Versa and BASS Foundation to name a few.
Launched in Oct 2012, EZ Riser is the solo project of Sohail Arora pushing cutting edge electronic music with a heavy emphasis on bass.
As one half of Bay Beat Collective (BBC), India’s oldest bass crew, Sohail Arora has been pushing bass music for over 8 years now. He has played a big role in building the bass music scene in India as an artist and a promoter. His solo project EZ Riser aims to showcase newer forms of electronic music with particular focus on beats, footwork, drum & bass, trap, hip hop and bass house. A self confessed music geek and influenced by artists such as DJ Rashad, Clap Clap, Zinc, Machinedrum, Addison Groove, Om Unit, Stray, Romare, Four Tet, Flako, J Dilla, Kendrick Lamar, Nicolas Jaar and many more, EZ Riser’s spectrum of music is highly versatile.
Ultimately, it's EZ Riser's fidelity to the low end that ties his sound (and most probably life) together. EZ Riser has toured all across the world performing in places such as UK, Germany, Croatia, Norway, Netherlands, Slovenia, Srilanka and has also played at Europe’s leading festivals like Outlook Festival & Dimensions Festival.
