Thee J Johanz has been on the wheels of steel since he was about fourteen years old. He’s been creating music since he was twelve. After playing in several well-known bands, he became one of the first generation of Dutch house and techno DJs who brought Chicago house, Detroit techno and other new dance music to the Netherlands. Eternal fame came with his first release for the critically acclaimed Irdial Records (London), after which there was a boom of releases on many labels using different names.
Thee J Johanz has his own Ballyhoo studio with a perfect hybrid environment. Lots of analog classic synths and other hardware and one of the best analog mastering chains of the country. He also does mixing and mastering for some of the most exciting producers in the world.
As a DJ, he has played all over Netherlands and abroad. Bigger festivals and clubs like Lowlands, Magnetic Fields, Moma, Berghain, Field Day, Frozen Land, Nuits Sonores, Virus, 5DaysOff, Eurosonic etc. He has played over 2000 shows in his entire career in countries like Philippines, Mexico, USA, UK, Germany, France, India, China, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium etc. He was the driving force behind the early years of Zapclub in Simplon. During the acid house days, he started organizing his own parties, the massive Ballyhoo beach raves. These days he does his own Jacuzzi party concept with Bobby Freeda and he drops his own Ballyhoo parties at the infamous Paradigm Club (won a prize for the Best Underground Club at ADE 2015).
